Open Systems Fieldbook is the editorial author and publisher of the new articles on this site. We research technical questions from the domain's history, consult current primary documentation, and label what has not been tested. The present operator has not supplied a personal byline or individual credentials, so we do not invent them.
Why this address?
The archived site explored Linux, self-hosting, privacy and the open web. Several technical posts earned links from communities trying to solve real problems. Those questions remain useful, while package names and installation advice age quickly. This edition starts new articles at selected historical URLs so readers arriving from old links receive a clearly labelled, up-to-date editorial page.
What we publish
We publish original guides, checklists and investigations that expose assumptions, show failure modes and link to primary documentation. We distinguish tested observations from general guidance. The current field notes cover Linux storage, graphics compatibility, crawler traffic, low-bandwidth access, NixOS decisions, encrypted email, mobile privacy, portable apps and web architecture.
